The activity mixes decimal degrees, degrees and decimal minutes, degrees/minutes/seconds, signed values, compact aviation, NMEA-style, and compact ISO-style coordinates. Hemisphere letters may appear before or after the numbers.

Latitude and longitude use degrees, not hours. UTM and MGRS are separate grid coordinate systems, so they are not mixed into this activity.

What the formats mean

A degree contains 60 minutes and a minute contains 60 seconds. Decimal degrees put the fraction directly after the degree; DDM puts it after the minutes; DMS separates all three. In signed coordinates, positive latitude is north, negative latitude is south, positive longitude is east, and negative longitude is west.
