How it works

How the game works

  1. Each session shuffles a balanced deck of 100 unique challenges without repeats.
  2. Each challenge begins at a random point. Sometimes only METAR and the station are provided; sometimes most of the report is already decoded.
  3. You receive a 10-second orientation allowance plus 12 seconds for every tag you must solve.
  4. Drag tags within the main bank to organize them. Drag unlikely choices into the discard area, and drag or click them to bring them back.
  5. Wind direction answers randomly use either true degrees or the equivalent compass direction. Nearby compass points are deliberate distractors.
  6. If a close distractor catches you, use the back arrow and try again.
  7. At zero, choose whether to try a fresh METAR or quit.

The Avg / tag statistic is stored in this browser and uses all tags you personally solve in completed challenges. A decreasing average shows that your decoding speed is improving.

These are generated training reports, not live weather. For flight planning, always obtain current weather from an authorized source. Coding follows the FAA Aviation Weather Handbook.
