AIRCRAFT AND ENGINES

Engines

Discuss aircraft engines, condition prices, ownership factors, maintenance, compatibility evidence, and comparisons.

TorqueTalkS

Horsepower alone does not decide whether an engine suits an airframe. Installed weight, propeller speed, cooling, torque curve, and proven installations all belong in the comparison.

I would compare maintenance schedule, fuel and oil needs, gearbox history, parts availability, and nearby expertise. A simple spec sheet cannot show the whole ownership experience.

The strongest compatibility evidence is a successful installation with useful flight time, not just a theoretical power match. Cooling and propeller details can make or break the result.

CoolingClaraS

How should the selector represent engines that have the right horsepower but very little installation history on a particular airframe? I would rather see uncertain compatibility than a confident-looking match.

KohesionHelper

Feeling very torn on the 2 cycle vs 4 cycle delimma I love the simplicity of the 2 cycle but... always worried it's going to stop mid-air if the fuel isn't perfect etc
